The September 2026 GTI-Woodbased Panel report points to a difficult purchasing environment: weak orders alongside continuing pressure on raw-material costs. For furniture and interior-material buyers, our practical response is to compare complete quotations and connect purchases to a confirmed specification and delivery plan.
When checked on 30 October 2026, ITTO's Global Timber Index page listed September 2026 as its latest GTI-Woodbased Panel edition. This is a monthly survey indicator for participating enterprises in pilot countries, rather than a price list for an individual supplier.
The report records a comprehensive index of 42.1%, up 1.6 percentage points from August but still below the 50% dividing line. New orders stood at 39.6%, while the raw-material purchase-price index was 56.3%. Under the report's method, readings below 50% indicate contraction and readings above it indicate expansion for the measured indicator. A higher purchase-price index is not the percentage increase in a board's selling price.
Our interpretation is that a softer order environment does not establish a matching reduction in every finished product's price. The purchasing steps below are Zhide's editorial guidance; the report is not a quotation or a forecast for a particular Zhide order.

A low headline amount is difficult to assess when the compared offers describe different products. Begin with the intended component and the material being purchased: decorative paper, an unfinished panel or a finished surfaced panel. State the design reference and identify who is responsible for the substrate, surface processing and final fabrication.
Where the purchase includes panels, confirm the required dimensions, construction and application requirements with the supplier. Where it concerns decorative paper, identify the design and the intended processing route. Do not transfer a performance statement from one construction to another merely because the visible woodgrain looks similar.
Give each supplier the same destination and requested commercial basis. Ask the offer to identify its unit of sale, quoted quantity, packing basis, transport scope and validity period. Keep any unresolved field visible. This turns a price discussion into a comparison of what the buyer will actually receive and which costs are included.
When an offer changes, ask which field changed and retain the earlier version. A revised design, quantity, delivery basis or packing requirement may affect comparability. A market index alone cannot explain the difference between two order-specific quotations.

For a new furniture collection, work backwards from the required receiving date. Record the points that need confirmation: design selection, physical sample review, technical agreement, commercial approval and dispatch arrangements. Ask the supplier to confirm the feasible sequence before treating a requested date as accepted.
The reception and vanity concepts shown here help communicate where a decorative design will be visible. They do not establish stock, production capacity or lead time. A physical sample and a written offer remain the relevant references for the proposed purchase.

If an alternative material is proposed during a quotation discussion, check its visual role and construction requirements before comparing the price. Record the new design reference and request the appropriate sample. A similar colour does not settle differences in finish, grain direction or suitability for the intended component.
