Wood Veneer Shipping: Container Photos to Request Before Dispatch

Before shipping wood veneer sheets, request a photo record that covers the empty container, the loading stages, package condition and the completed dispatch. Each view should answer a specific question. A single photograph of closed doors cannot show how the cargo was packed or what was visible before closure.

This guide helps buyers agree a useful dispatch photo set. The images below are historical container-loading photographs from the local material library. They illustrate camera views, not a current Zhide shipment, a verified veneer cargo or a certified loading method.

Which container photos should a buyer request?

Agree this coverage before dispatch, while the relevant stages can still be photographed. The IMO/ILO/UNECE CTU Code is an official reference for packing cargo transport units. It includes checking that a unit is suitable for the cargo. A photo request supports communication and records; it does not replace the packer's technical checks.

Ask for the empty-container view first

The loading team should check the unit before packing. Ask which condition checks were carried out and request photographs of the areas relevant to your cargo. If damage, residue, water or another concern is reported, obtain a close view and the loading team's decision before relying on a general interior photograph.

A dark image may leave the roof or far end unclear. Ask for additional lighting or closer photographs where necessary. Do not turn “nothing obvious in the photo” into a statement that a container passed every required check.

Capture the stages that will disappear behind the cargo

Once more handling units enter a container, earlier packages and their references can become hidden. Request loading-progress views before that happens. Where protection or securing arrangements have been agreed, ask for their relevant details to be visible in the record.

For a wood veneer order, identify the package or bundle references in close photographs when practical. Keep those references with the veneer packing list and bundle records. This article concerns photographic coverage; the packing-list guide explains how the identifiers and quantities are reconciled.

Record visible package condition, not just the container

Ask for an overall view of the handling unit and a close view of any visible packaging damage. Include the relevant reference so the issue can be located in the shipment. Describe what the photograph shows without guessing whether hidden veneer sheets are affected.

If the agreed packaging specification includes edge protection, wrapping, straps or other features, request photos that show those features on the actual cargo. There is no universal arrangement demonstrated by the historical pictures in this guide. The appropriate method must be agreed for the material, route and handling conditions.

Keep the final interior view with the dispatch record

The last open-door photograph should relate to the actual order and completion stage. Keep it with the dispatch date, container reference and recorded seal identifier. If an arrangement cannot be understood from the doorway, request the earlier-stage photographs or closer details that explain it.

A loaded-container photo does not prove sheet count, weight, grade, moisture condition or safe securing. Use the agreed shipment documents, inspection records and responsible packing checks for those questions. Photographs show visible conditions at a particular moment.

A short photo request to include with your order

Ask for: the empty-container interior; identified handling units before loading; successive loading views; close-ups of the agreed protection and securing details; the final interior before closure; and the container and seal references at dispatch. Link the files to the order number and shipment date. Keep customer and identifying details in the appropriate private shipment record rather than using them in public marketing images.

If a concern is visible, send the relevant image, package reference and question promptly. Ask the supplier and loading team to clarify the condition and the proposed action. Retain the original record and any dated follow-up rather than replacing an earlier image with an unexplained revision.

Frequently asked questions

Can photos prove the quantity of wood veneer sheets?

No. Reconcile the agreed quantities and units using the packing list and relevant count records. Photographs help identify packages but cannot show every concealed sheet.

Does a photo of closed doors replace loading photos?

No. It documents a later stage. Request the interior and loading-stage views before those details become hidden.

Are the photographs in this guide examples of current Zhide orders?

No. They are historical loading references used to explain useful camera coverage. Ask for photographs and records relating to your actual order.

Browse the Zhide wood veneer range, including birch veneer sheets and Mersawa veneer sheets. Send your veneer inquiry with the material, agreed grade, dimensions, quantity, destination and required dispatch photo coverage. Packing and shipment details need order-specific confirmation.
